Updating Everstuff without talking about The Last Pilgrims

2/8/2012 - 4th Day - Morning– Greetings y’all.  For today's blog post, I know you may be tired of it, so I'm going to make no mention of The Last Pilgrims book launch on 2/24/2012 or the fact that there are less than 67 hours left in our fund-raiser.  Today I am giving you a break from my constant harping on The Last Pilgrims.  Instead, it is time for a general update on everything going on here at the ranch.  Today is cool and overcast, so the pictures will not be great, but we'll go with what we have.

The gardens are doing great.  We finished the small/raised hugelkulture bed and planted it in lettuce and mixed greens.  We are just today finishing another raised bed which will be used for sweet peas.  We will have those planted today or tomorrow (DV) and the cold frame covers will be put over both new beds.  This week we hope to start on 5 new raised beds for spring planting.

I have 50 or so tomatoes that are doing really well in the greenhouse, along with a flat of crookneck squash and a lot of peppers.  Lord willing I will be starting more seedlings this week.

Here are a lot of pictures of what is going on around here...

The wheat fields are doing great (Praise God).  We are grazing the large field with a few of our bulls.  The cattle will be pulled off on March 1 so we can still (DV) get a crop from that field.  We are not grazing our smaller field because we would like to use that field for our hand-harvested, personal use wheat.

Danielle and the children have been working hard to get the old cabin emptied and all of our "stuff" moved so that Mihai can continue to disassemble and haul off the old cabin.  We're still getting 5 1/2 to 6 gallons of milk a day from Greta, so we are making cheese, butter, etc. almost every day.  So everybody is really busy.  We still haven't gotten to butcher, but we hope to butcher next week no matter what.

I hope all is well with you all.

Your servant in Christ Jesus,

Michael Bunker
