November Work, Rain Threatens

11/7/2011 - 2nd Day - Late Morning– Greetings y’all.  Our projects and process keep moving forward on this fine, warm, November morning.  Overnight temp was 70 degrees with about 80% humidity, which brought back memories of Central America and the possibility of being attacked by a howler monkey.

Tracy is just about finished processing about 60 lbs. of lacto-fermented, smoked, and dried sausage.  Danielle is canning another hundred pounds or so of beef cubes.  Robert is moving and stacking firewood.  The mass rocket heater/stove is moving forward too, as COB is being applied to make the bench today.  On the Sabbath I tasted our kraut, and it was delicious.  I am now eating a little with every meal to aid my digestion.  Today I have had farm fresh eggs, brisket, some lacto-fermented sausage, some yogurt, some kraut, and coffee... and it is only 10:15 or so.  I love living off-grid.

The prognosticators are calling for storms and potentially violent weather this evening, so we pray that God protects us from hail and tornadoes.  We do need the rain.  It is 70% tonight, so we hope to get wet without any of the damaging stuff.

We had a fun and interesting radio show last night.  We had 70 live listens, which is one short of the record.  Archive listens are way up as well.  Remember you can subscribe to the radio show as a podcast on iTunes.  Also, please go "like" the radio facebook page at:  http://facebook.com/bunkerradio.  You can always post questions for the radio show on that page, or you can email them to me at editor@lazarusunbound.com.

It's been cloudy all day here (North Texas) and all afternoon yesterday but no rain! Let's hope we get some tonight.

This blog entry begs the question:

Can you lacto-ferment Howler Monkey meat?

No worries! :-))

Take Care.
