We made a boatload of kraut this morning. It was hard work, but we hope it will be well worth it. This summer I bought two very nice German fermenting crocks. I bought the 15 liter one (about 4 gallons), and the 10 liter one (about 2.64 gallons). Anyway, we made that much kraut, and we'll see how it goes and report back (DV). We used about 10 large cabbages, 5-6 apples, about 10 onions, 6-7 carrots, and assorted seasonings.
While we made kraut, Danielle was staining the walls of the bedroom in the cottage. We need to get it stained before we finish the roof, floor, and trim.
Meanwhile, Mark and Kelly began gathering together the material to build a prototype mass rocket stove. The first one will be the test heater, and it will be built in the new buggy barn because if it doesn't go right, or if it needs to be tweaked, we can do so before we build the one in the cottage. I'll be providing pictures (DV) as this stove goes together. This sand is to be mixed with our own clay and straw to make the COB portion of the rocket heater/stove.
Today and tomorrow we will be planting some more winter garden plants as well.
Onward!
Your servant in Christ Jesus,
Michael Bunker

Great website. All the new additions are great. I planned to make kraut this year but ALL my cabbages died. They didn't like the new garden soil. We are bummed as we bought a couple crocks as well. I may have to check out the farmer's market and see if there are any left. Can't wait to see the rocket stove in action. Looks like it'll an awesome source of heat.
Onward!
Kris
