Wheat, Garlic, and Such

10/16/2011 - 2nd Day - Afternoon. Greetings y’all.  I hope all is going well with you and your process out of the system.  I figured I'd throw some pictures up here for you so you could track our progress...

After the recent 5 1/4 inch rain, we've got wheat coming up.  After a record drought and brutal summer, seeing anything green is a blessing.  The trouble is, we've got about 2 weeks to get more rain, or this wheat won't make it.  So please be praying that we'll get enough to get it established for winter.

This is about 1/2 of our garlic beds.  So far we have planted about 1,600 cloves, and we still hope to get that total up over 2,000 before we're done.  Most of this is Ajo Rojo and Spanish Roja.  You can see the new cottage in the back right, and the new buggy barn in the back left with barrels stacked up against it.

Here is the finished greenhouse.  Well... mostly finished.  We still need to put the gravel in for the floor, and build the counters and shelves.  But we've got a month before we'll need it.  Supposed to be 94 degrees today, and 49 tonight.  High 30's expected tomorrow night with daytime temps in the 70's.  One thing about Central Texas is that you never know what you are going to get.  In this picture you can see some of the new raised beds in the background, with the beginnings of a drip water system for watering.

We had a great radio show last night, and you might want to listen to it.  It was basically an almost 2 hour monologue about the "Occupy" phenomena and what is really happening in the world, and what to expect.

I've got to get to work, but thanks for stopping by.

Your servant in Christ Jesus,

Michael Bunker

Great radio show last night. A lot to think about. I am more clear than ever on why I must continue to untangle and separate my family from the system,by God's grace.

How do you plow, When did you plow?

Ante,

This time I paid a local friend who is a farmer to plow and plant for me. But Mr. Sifford also has a tractor, a plow, harrow, planter, etc. and is able to do it if I need him to. We plowed and planted all in just a few days a couple of weeks ago.

Mr. Bunker
Would you have any of that garlic for sale? I'm in northern Ontario Canada and the garlic here is pitiful. There's still time to plant before we get our wild snows!
Thanks,
Cath
