8/6/10 - 6th Day - Afternoon. Preparation of the Sabbath. Greetings y'all. The heat wave rolls on here in Central Texas. It really has been a short summer at this point, because most of the summer has been tremendously mild, but this little heat spell is starting to make up for it.
It breaks my heart, but....
I have to sell my Sibbes. The set of seven books pictured in the pic at the top are my 1867 set of The Works of Richard Sibbes. Sibbes was an English Puritan writer of very high value and I have had this set pretty much since I first started building my library. However, due to the fact that my library will not be ready for a couple more years, and this set needs to be stored better than I can store it right now, and because I do not want this high quality antiquarian masterpiece to degrade - I need to sell it. Everyone who has visited me and who has seen some of my library knows what this set means to me, but it would be worse on me to see this set degrade or lose its usefulness due to me not being able to move fast enough on getting my library ready. I have a "modern" reprint of this set, so that will have to do for me. I will be auctioning off this set to the highest bidder. Do your due diligence and search the Interwebs all you like, but you won't find this particular set anywhere, and if you do, I assure you it will not be in this condition. This set was published exactly 100 years before I was born. It was published in Edinburgh by James Nichol, London: James Nisbet and Co., and Dublin by W. Robertson. Published in 1867. The General Editor was Rev. Thomas Smith of Edinburgh. Online I could only find PDF and photocopied reprints of this set. The modern Banner of Truth set is a reprinted copy from the 1980's or 90's.
Anyway, the "reserve" for this auction is $150. I paid $195.80 for it almost a decade ago. It is still in supreme readable condition. It will be packed with love and care and shipped for free. This set is worth anywhere from $400 to $500 today - if not more. But I will send it to the highest bidder whose bid is over $150. I will take bids from now (near sundown on the Preparation of the Sabbath) until sundown a week from now on the 13th. Email me your bid at: editor (at) lazarusunbound (dot) com. I will alert the highest bidder when he/she has won.
I have to go cry now.
Your servant in Christ Jesus,
Michael Bunker

Ouch, brother, that almost makes me cry for you! As a fellow bookworm, I can't imagine parting with a set like that. I pray that your library, when finished, will be graced with one of similar condition.

Hi Michael. Why not have a brother keep it for you until your library is ready and then send it back. It would be hard for me to part with a valuable collection/setof books like that.
My thoughts exactly Sanrico.I would be willing to keep them for you until you want them back Michael.
