6/24/10 - 5th Day - Morning. Greetings y'all. Spring is over and summer is here, and I can tell you that we were in the midst of receiving summer in full force. Last week we were up near 100 degrees every day, and we hadn't had rain since the very beginning of June. Believe me, the blackeyed pea field was suffering, and I had pretty much told everyone that if we didn't get water soon, there wouldn't be much of a crop made. So we prayed. A lot. Well, as I said in the last post, praise be to God we have received above and beyond what we required, and we are so very thankful for it...
The garden is doing very well, even though we are in our unappealing "middle" stage between having just harvested all of our garden, and our newer crops starting to pop up...
We are gettting enough tomatoes, peppers, etc. to make some salsa, so that was the deal when the rains started to fall...
As I said, the bean field immediately perked up, and the individual plants about doubled in size in 24 hours. We received another plentiful rain yesterday and so we cannot get out there to start weeding today, but the field is looking great (these pics were taken before the second rain)...
